Modern Cabled Baby Bib

Modern Cabled Baby BibI can see these becoming a “staple” amongst the knit-ahead baby shower stuff. They’re just basically a dish cloth with a collar, but so cute!  I used hook and loop for the closure.  The pattern has a button hole instruction for the end of the cable, and that would probably work too, but in this age of “Velcro” I decided to go that route.  I had some red “loop” in the stash, and I just cut a circle of hook out from some Aplix that I have also in the stash.

Hook & loop closure on bib

(Trace around a quarter and it comes out a pretty good size circle.)  I use a zig-zag stitch for a couple of reasons, 1) it’s being applied to a knit, and 2) invariably the machine skips stitches when applying this stuff to anything unless you use a zig-zag.

Close-Up of stitchingIf you use the right colored thread though, it just blends in with the yarn and doesn’t really show too badly.
