10 Favorite Movie Characters

10 on Tuesday

These are in no particular order – just listing them as I think of them!

  • 1.  “Meg Greene/Aunt Meg” (Lois Smith) in “Twister”

Aunt Meg:  He didn’t keep his part of the bargain, did he?
    Jo: Which part?
Aunt Meg: To spend his life pining for you, and die miserable and alone.
Jo: Is that too much to ask?

    2. And while we’re at it – “Jo” (Helen Hunt) in “Twister” too.
    3. Morgan Freeman’s character “Azeem” in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Azeem: A wise man once said: “There are no perfect men in the world; only perfect intentions.”

    4. Also enjoyed his character “Carter Chambers” in “Bucket List.”
    5. “Luc Teyssier” (Kevin Kline) in “French Kiss”
    6. “Billy Chapel” (Kevin Costner) in “For Love of the Game.”

Jane Aubrey: You ever gotten your heart broken?
Billy Chapel: Yeah. When we lost the pennant in ’87.

    7. “Gracie Hart” (Sandra Bullock) in “Miss Congeniality.”

Stan Fields: What is the one most important thing our society needs?
Gracie Hart: That would be… harsher punishment for parole violators, Stan.
    [crowd is silent]
    Gracie Hart: And world peace!
    [crowd cheers ecstatically]

    8. “Elena Montero/Murietta” (Catherine Zeta-Jones) in the Zorro movies.
    9. “Mr Darcy” (Matthew MacFadyen) in “Pride & Predjudice.”
    10. “Jacob McCandles” (John Wayne) in “Big Jake.”

Hotel desk clerk: I thought you were dead.
Jacob ‘Big Jake’ McCandles: Dead? The next person who says that I’m gonna shoot, so help me.

  • Of course, these are just ten of a WHOLE BUNCH of “Favorites”.

I loved Kevin Kline in French Kiss! And just about everyone in Twister was great – Lois Smith, Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton…

Enjoyed remembering the scenes you quoted.

French Kiss was terrific, but Kline made my honorable mentions for Otto in “A Fish Called Wanda.” And Twister was indeed a great one to draw on.
