Ken Socks

I did a Google search and came up with these cute Barbie socks to knit on Judy Gibson’s web site. Just a few extra stitches, and you have Ken hiking socks. (Barbie didn’t need any.) Here is *Ken modeling his new socks. I even Kitchenered the toes! How cute is that? He needs pants next. [Edited to add: They only took about half an hour to make.]

*(I know it’s not really Ken, but that’s what I refer to him as.)

Sounds of Winter

Ahhh….the sounds of winter: “hack, hack, hoooooooork! Hoooooonk! AaaaaCHOOO!” Yes, friends, we’ve got ‘em all. And, for once, I’m actually thankful for the dulcet tones of an “English Second Language” Persian immigrant doctor dictating [I mentioned that I do Medical Transcription, right?] into my pleading ears. Well, until I hear SIMILAR noises coming from said dictation. There weren’t a lot of cheering noises coming from the direction of the (suffering) TV viewing audience as the Cowboys played the Eagles last evening. I, on the other hand, happily worked on my sweet StepDad’s sock, as Jeff Garcia and Crew gave the ever-so-smug Cowboys a lesson in humility and teamwork. I’m not an Eagles fan, and even tho Jeff had a few good years at the helm of the 49ers, not really that much of a Jeff Garcia fan, but I really have a problem with cocky prima-donna types, and well, it just never fails to give me a bit of a happy little smile when I see them get shown the error of their ways. Not that they actually learn from it, but it appeared Coach Parsells was explaining things to them quite explicitly once or twice. We’ll see how that works. I think I’d really enjoy seeing the San Diego Chargers play New Orleans in the Super Bowl this year.

Mid-December Knit-Along Dishcloth

Well, I goofed it up, but mine was growing to dishtowel proportions anyway (gauge issues I guess), so I decided this looked like a good stopping point, and went ahead and put the last border rows on it. I can see where I missed a yarn-over now, but doubt I’d have been able to find my place to start it over - I tried, it didn’t happen… So, since it’s “just a dishcloth” I gave myself permission to call it “done.” I added a crochet’d edge and a nice fat hanging loop to the top corner.

It really is a cute dishcloth, and the pattern for it can be found here (but you will need to join the YahooGroup MonthlyDishcloths in order to gain access to the pattern). One of these days, I’m going to figure out the mystery that is lace knitting (beyond feather and fan). Maybe. Or maybe not.

Daisy

My son has accused me of having more pictures of my dog(s) than of him. I guess that might be close to the truth, but I don’t think it was meant to be intentional - at one point I had more dogs than I’ve ever had children, and c’mon, dogs are just fun to take pictures of.

I love how this feels. My hound Annie used to do this to me too. It’s the “Hello, I need SOMETHING” maneuver. I’m typing (I do medical transcription from home), the dog comes in and sits patiently (sometimes). I keep working. Next thing I know, I have a very soft muzzle resting on my forearm, and brown eyes staring up at me. This dog is such a dear, dear friend. She was begging for a cookie. It made for a nice moment.

Another one…

Still adding to the stack. I guess this blue/white/yellow is supposed to be kind of a French Country look, but all I can see is St. Louis Rams. And I heart the SF 49ers….thank you very much.

Feather and Fan in SL Lambs colors (crummy picture, I know…I think my camera does not heart the Rams either)…
