I woke up in bed with my husband. Three years ago YESTERDAY I married him. Three years ago my predictable life changed drastically. Even laundry took on a whole new perspective. New people to meet in my new home town, new friendships to form, “storms” to weather, losses to endure, victories to celebrate, and generally finding our way through the maze of decisions that “LIFE” is TOGETHER has been an expierience of wonderment for me. The past three years seems like a lifetime together already. In a good way. Three years ago, I married my best friend.

This rose bush was full of buds! See each one of those naked little tops? They all had buds - dang deer left me ONE at the bottom left. I meant to put this bush on the porch (since it’s in a light weight pot) but had watered it and it was too heavy for me to lift. Last night the deer lightened my load a little bit!
I did some spinning today. It’s been a while since I actually sat at the wheel for longer than a couple of minutes. Got on a roll today though, and actually finished spinning the fiber, got it plied, set the twist, and hung out to dry in an afternoon. I guess the 103 degree heat was good for something. I hung the finished damp skeins out on the porch and they were dry in an hour or two. It has since been wound into a center-pull ball - yes, I’m anxious to get started on whatever it’s going to become.
I need to do some more spinning first though (got a complimentary color ordered, so for now I’m done until it gets here), before I’ve got enough for a project of any size.
The resulting yarn was a little bit of a surprize. I thought it would be brighter. It was really REALLY pretty as a bunch of fiber waiting to be spun, teal shot thru with amethyst (very jewel like), but the yarn is kind of duller than I expected. I’m happy with the bulky result I got. I’d gotten into kind of a habit of spinning everything fine, or at the most fingering weight. But, I wanted something with some heft to it, so decided to try for a bulky yarn with this bump I had waiting in the wings. It might end up a felted project - perhaps a tote… Hoping it all speaks to me after I get the lavender fiber. Perhaps another entrelac project.

I need to be cited for Jaywalking again! I was NOT going to make this pattern a second time, but here’s my excuse. I had knitted the ribbing (cuff) and then had to decide what to do NEXT. I was in the car, had not brought any sock pattern to start, and for some reason my fingers wanted to start counting in multiples of 7. (Actually, yes, I have one spot at the top where I forgot to do a double increase so it looks kind of squoinched up, but…well…as we know, so far I don’t have too much of a problem with glaring mistakes as long as they come out as socks.) The yarn sure is pretty, isn’t it? Kind of reminds me of an Arizona sunset. I’ve finally gotten the pattern consistent, and the second sock will be fine. The other thing that I’m liking is that I stuck with a slightly larger needle. The blue socks were a tighter fabric and they resist going on my feet. They’re fine once they’re on, but I prefer a stretchier fabric than this Jaywalker pattern gives…which is why I wasn’t going to knit another pair. Oh well. I do like the zig-zag, and it’s a nice easy pattern to do while watching TV or riding in the car.
